Dr Roy Sugarman - Clinical Psychologist and Clinical NeuropsychologistDr Sugarman works internationally in several areas of psychology, including anxiety and mood disorders, rehabilitation of brain injury as well as peak performance enhancement with professional athletes, special forces in the military, and corporate leaders. He has worked as the Principal Psychologist for South Western Sydney Area Health Services, and Director of the Clinical Therapies unit there and at Sydney Royal Rehabilitation Centre as well, after several years as the Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist, Extended Care at Royal Adelaide Hospital, and Neuroscience Tutor for the SA Psychiatric Training Committee. He has held posts as Senior Clinical Lecturer in Psychiatry at Adelaide University and UNSW Medical Schools, the Special Needs Committee in Adelaide, and is currently Director of Applied Neuroscience for Athletes' Performance in Arizona USA. He is the author of two books, one for coaches and personal trainers, the other on lifestyle modification to enhance personal resilience in the modern world. At Rose Bay Medical Clinic, he sees both adults and children, as well as couples and professional athletes for counselling on a wide variety of mental and physical health issues.

Jodie Wassner - Developmental PsychologistJodie Wassner is a developmental psychologist who completed her Masters of Psychology (Educational and Developmental) degree at Monash University, Melbourne. She went on to spend the next fifteen years working as a psychologist in Primary and Secondary schools and ran a Melbourne-based private practice specialising in families. She is especially familiar with the issues that are likely to emerge across the developmental period and has extensive experience working with anxiety, depression, autism spectrum conditions, grief, anger, family conflict, bullying, sleep disturbance, stress management, social skills, school refusal and eating disturbance. Jodie also assesses and treats young people with behaviour and learning difficulties, liaising as required with families, schools and health professionals with discretion.
Jodie has a strong commitment to education for herself and others. She is currently supervising five provisional psychologists to guide them towards their psychology registration. Jodie has also presented at conferences and developed workshops including mental health and well-being programs for young people and parenting programs. Jodie is currently the Youth Series Facilitator for the Black Dog Institute’s Mental Health Workshops. Romy Kunitz - Clinical PsychologistRomy is a qualified clinical and developmental psychologist. She holds a Masters degree in Psychology internationally and obtained Cum Laude of her class. She developed a significant private practice for the past 12 years focusing her energy on work with adolescents, adults and couples with a range of concerns. Romy employs an integrative approach which is one which not only integrates several theoretical approaches, but also all aspects of the totality of the individual, and the world in which s/he lives.
Romy has worked in a clinical capacity in the corporate sector providing telephonic and face to face on-site therapy and crisis intervention. For 13 years, as an associate to an employee assistance service provider Romy ran an all-night (after hours) employee trauma line to a large elite international corporate bank. She also provided extensive on-site and off-site therapy for employees struggling within the areas of trauma, depression, relationships, eating disorders and all work related issues. Dr Wishart is passionate about his work and has a special interest in community-based practice and research to increase knowledge about sustainable high quality services to build children’s strengths, self-esteem and resilience. He cares deeply about children with special challenges and their families. He understands the journey and has learned much by listening to parents and children. He believes that partnerships with parents and their chosen professionals, working with preschools, schools and inclusive recreational programs in home communities is the way to help children towards happy and successful futures. Dr Wishart is a practitioner and teacher of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). He trained at the University of Massachusetts Medical School under Jon Kabat-Zinn and believes that mindfulness-based practices will play an increasingly important role in preserving wellness and reducing suffering for adults and children alike. A proud father to twin daughters aged 17 and their older sister studying at Sydney University, he also enjoys spending time with nephew Hamish, a gentle teenager who lives with an autism spectrum disorder and who knows more about trains and cars than his uncle could ever hope to learn. |
Kate Schliemann - Registered NurseKate Schliemann is a Registered Nurse who holds a Master's Degree in Nursing. She comes from a 13 year background in Emergency and Intensive Care nursing in both Sydney and Melbourne.
Her role at the clinic includes assisting with childhood "blue book" checks, immunisations, consultation follow ups and recalls, wound care, and care plan management. Kate liaises with patients as required above and beyond their standard consultations, ensuring continuous comprehensive care for all patients. Kate works Monday and Wednesdays and Fridays, and has a young son who keeps her busy when she is not at the clinic. |
